GRAND JURY REPORT - A Case of Government Code Violations and A Lack of Transparency
On April 16, 2015 the Grand Jury of Marin County issued a report titled, “Pension Enhancements: A Case of Government Code Violations and A Lack of Transparency”.
Upon receipt of the Report the District’s Board of Directors and Interim Fire Chief immediately set in motion the required legal analysis in preparation for responding to the Grand Jury Report as prescribed by law.
This analysis is underway but until a thorough investigation is complete, the Board of Directors and Interim Fire Chief felt it was imperative to communicate with our constituents in regards to the Grand Jury Report, and the actions the Fire District is taking. We want to assure you that your elected officials and Fire District executive staff are following the prescribed steps, ensuring compliance with all regulations related to the Grand Jury Process and the Ralph H. Brown Act, in our analysis and subsequent responses. This has resulted in the accompanying statement from the Board of Directors and Interim Fire Chief to the community.
The Board of the Southern Marin Fire District is happy to share this statement with you and has also submitted the statement to local media outlets, as well as authorized its release on the District’s Social Media sites. Once the Grand Jury analysis is complete, the District will share the finding from the analysis with the community as well.
